Gateway is proud to have board members that come from a diverse and experienced background. We have community and business leaders and former survivors on our board team who provide strategic direction, funding and volunteer work to serve domestic violence victims.
Peggy Sanborn, President
IMA of Colorado, Inc.
Peggy is an Account Executive with IMA, Inc., one of the largest independently owned insurance brokerages in the United States.
She has over three decades of experience in business insurance management and program design, and holds the professional designations of CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) and AAI (Accredited Advisor of Insurance).
Peggy has volunteered on Gateway’s crisis line for over 25 years, as well as assisting in other volunteer capacities such as fundraising, donation coordination and participating in semi-annual Volunteer Training classes. She has also worked with Volunteers of America in different capacities including their Adopt-a-Route meal delivery program; and currently volunteers at one of their senior meal site locations.

Barry Warshaw has served the greater Denver community for many years as an entrepreneur, starting Epicurean Catering, a food services company and KD Systems, a network and computer company for non-profit enterprises. Currently, Barry works for the Boulder Valley School District as a Homebound Instructor, helping children, all ages elementary school age through high school, with all subjects except foreign languages. His affiliation with Gateway came out of consulting with them over 20 years ago. He has been on the board since 1993, serving as Treasurer the past 10 years. Barry has an Executive MBA from the University of Colorado (CU) and a BS in Electrical Engineering also from CU.

Deborah Chen joined the Gateway board in 2015. She has extensive customer service and logistics management experience at Trinidad Benham Corp., WhiteWave Foods, Infinite Campus and Agfa Compugraphic. She adds operational process and people management expertise to Gateway. Deb volunteered at Blue Sky Bridge in Boulder, CO. She happily and successfully raised four children as a stay-home mom for sixteen years and studied at Merrimac College.

Karl Chen is a high-tech entrepreneur, CEO & Principal Partner at What Tech Companies Need. WTCNeed is a consulting company working with growth-oriented technology companies. Karl has more than 30 years of executive, business strategy, marketing and sales management experience at leading tech firms including BMC Software, Compaq, Dell, HP, LeftHand Networks & others. He has been a Gateway board member since 2015 and led the re-branding effort for Gateway Domestic Violence Services. Karl has a MBA from Bentley University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Babson College.
